PERSONALITY:
Whimsical
Often times, Aspen will do something out of the ordinary or crazy, just because she wants to. Something will pop into her head, or she'll see something cool, and she'll just decide to do it. She'll decide she wants chocolate cake, so she'll make some... at two in the morning, and when she saw Last Holiday, she thought sky diving looked fun, so she signed up for a lesson the next day.
Meticulous
Things have to be a certain way, and Aspen has a certain way to do a lot of things. Her classroom and apartment are absolutely spotless, because she's a clean freak, and everything is always where it's supposed to go. As soon as she wakes up in the morning, she makes her bed, and she takes a shower twice a day, once in the morning, and once in the evening.
Trusting
Aspen is too trusting for her own good. She believes the best of people, and can't understand that some people aren't dependable. Even if she's been lied to repeatedly by someone, Aspen will still believe whatever they say, no matter how ridiculous. She'd trust a complete stranger with her wallet, and if the person ended up running off with all their money, she wouldn't believe that they'd stole it, she'd be convinced that they had some emergency and absolutely had to leave.
Honest
Aspen never, ever keeps a secret. She doesn't blurt out every thought that crosses through her head, but if someone asks her something, she'll tell them the truth, even if it hurts. She doesn't like hurting people, but she doesn't like lying even more, so she always opts or the truth rather than making people feel good.
Reliable
Aspen won't keep your secrets, but she'll always be there for you. When someone needs a shoulder to cry on, she's there to try to cheer them up, or just to listen, if that's what the person needs. When she says she's going to do something, or be somewhere, she can be counted on to do what she says, and she doesn't say something unless she means it.
Amiable
It is really easy to get along with Aspen. She's sweet, pleasant around others, and a generally good-natured person. Fights rarely start because of her, as she's agreeable and willing to accept the wishes, decisions, suggestions, and opinions of others.
Procrastinates
Aspen procrastinates pretty much everything, except cleaning. She waits until the last minute to do grading, even though she knows that it will just stress her out in the end. She just can't help it. In her mind, she knows she needs to get it done, but for some reason she just can't force herself to do something she doesn't want to do, until it is absolutely necessary.
Sensitive
Jokes, Aspen understands. She has a sense of humor, but criticism doesn't bode well with her. She takes everything someone says- that she doesn't see as a joke- to heart. If someone bashes her outfit, or any aspect of her personality or appearance, she gets very worked up and offended, even if it was simply meant as constructive criticism.
Easily Stressed
Anything and everything stresses Aspen out. It could be something as serious as having a mountain of papers to grade, and grades being do the next day, or as small and insignificant as breaking a nail, she still gets very, very worked up about it. It's easy to distract her from her troubles, but it's also easy to remind her of them, and when she's sitting alone in her apartment, with nothing to distract her, things can get very hectic.

HISTORY:
Chuck Matthews and Susan Harriet met at a small cafe Christmas morning. Susan had just moved to Paris, and has no one to spend the holiday with, and Chuck, unfortunately, had to work, but was stopping to get a morning coffee first. She gave him her number, and they got together that night after Chuck got off work, immediately hitting it off. It took four years for the man to propose, but Susan waited patiently, and they got married only two months after the engagement. A year later, Edward Marshal Matthew came along, followed by Aspen, Edward's younger sibling by three years. Just after Aspen was born, they moved to the United States.
When Aspen was three, Susan was diagnosed with Cancer. Chuck was so busy trying to take care of his wife, and the two children, that he eventually lost his job, and it wasn't long before he had no money left to feed them. Unable to handle the stress, he left. Aspen hardly remembers her father, but Edward, who was seven at the time, remembers very clearly the night that Chuck sat him down and told him it was time to become a man, to take care of his family, followed by his father's disappearance.
The two were put into foster care. Thankfully, they were put into a good home, and given a good life for the next few years. They never heard anything about their mother, and were left wondering whether she had died yet, or if the chemo was helping. The mother of the family was an actress, a pretty successful, though not overly famous actress. Edward showed no interest in acting, but Aspen was immediately put into classes, and very quickly stared in a commercial. After her first performance, she was cast in a small, independent film, and from there did several more commercials and a few movies.
It wasn't until Aspen's fourteenth birthday that they did finally learned what happened. Susan had lived, her cancer having gone into recession, but for some reason hadn't bother to find her two children until then. She wanted them back. Edward was seventeen, would soon be turning eighteen, graduating, and going off to college, but Susan was insistent that she would take care of Aspen for the next four years. The girl, having only a few memories of her mother, and not wanting to leave her foster family, was not at all happy about this idea... of course, she didn't have much of a choice. The courts sent her and Edward back to Toronto to live with their mother and her new boyfriend.
As soon as he turned eighteen, Edward left. Aspen was furious, how could he leave her like that, with some strange woman and her creepy guy. He didn't even write or call her. But, instead of being furious with him, Aspen figured her elder brother had just gotten very busy and forgotten to contact her. She believed her mother when the woman said she'd been trying to find her children since the cancer had gone into recession, and soon was very close to Susan and Bob, Aspen's soon to be step-father.
At eighteen, Aspen left for New York to go to college. Edward was now living there, and she finally got to see him again. But it seemed Edward had moved on from his old life, his old family, and he didn't have any interest in keeping in contact with his sister, so after graduating, she went back home and started acting once more. She was hired to work at the school, even though she had no teaching experience.
